About Me

About me...

I am genuine, warm and caring. I will provide a safe, confidential space for you to be your true self and share your raw emotions without fear of judgement.

I work predominantly as a Person-Centred Therapist Crediton, however, I am trained as an Integrative Counsellor, therefore I can draw on other models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, depending on your needs. I am fully insured and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such abide by their Ethical Framework.

I have experienced counselling myself, therefore I understand how it can feel to be the client. I feel that the most important aspect of counselling is developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. I will learn about you and ensure you feel truly heard and understood. I will be there to gently challenge you and we will work together to help you find a way forward.

My Background And Experience

I studied for my Diploma in Counselling at Devon Counselling College, this was a unique and in-depth training course. I worked for Counselling for Carers, who provide low-cost counselling to carers in Devon.

I spent over 5 years working for the Ambulance Service in a variety of roles, so I have an understanding of the extreme pressures on the NHS and the impact on the staff working for them.

Whilst training to be a Counsellor, I worked on a Critical and Terminal Illness Claims Team for an insurance company. This involved reviewing medical reports and speaking with people who had been diagnosed with life limiting illnesses.

I have done a range of voluntary work including working as a listening volunteer for the Samaritans. I answered calls and emails from people who were struggling with life and those who were having suicidal thoughts and feelings.

I am also a parent, therefore I am aware of how challenging and rewarding it can be, especially in our fast-paced society when we are trying to balance work and home life.

My life experience in addition to my counselling skills enable me to connect with a diverse range of clients.

Some of the issues I have worked with include:

  • Decision making
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Bereavement
  • Miscarriage and baby loss
  • Low self-esteem
